With “ how to disappear ”, pølaroit introduces a groundbreaking chapter in their musical journey, merging melancholic electronic soundscapes with the string quartet's rich, intimate organic textures. The upcoming EP, out on June 6, 2025, brings together the breathtaking performances of the Canea Quartet and the intricate contributions of Abbott , who arranged the strings and played a defining artistic role on selected tracks. The result is a deeply immersive interplay between electronic and classical elements—emotionally charged, forward-thinking, yet unmistakably pølaroit.

The EP opens with “ Salt ”, where nostalgic pads stretch into the distance, seamlessly blending with expressive string harmonies. A striking synth stab takes the lead, guiding the track forward with an evolving intensity. “ A Threat ”, the most thriving track of the EP, unfolds around a powerful synth melody, gradually layered with bass and soaring strings—culminating in a bold, staccato-driven climax.

“ Where the Waves Fade ,” pølaroit's first full collaboration with Thomas Muis, also known as Abbott , starts in a purely orchestral realm, featuring a meticulously crafted arrangement that gradually dissolves into their electronic world. A striking interplay between two musical landscapes, the track is both forceful and deeply melodic. " Shard " flows effortlessly within the EP, carried by a subtle, bouncing energy from its dotted eighth-note bassline, while airy textures and floating melodies tie everything together.

" Clouds " is a paradox within the EP—an intimate solo strings piece that draws you in with an emotional depth, where every note feels like it's telling a story. Co-written with Abbott, it effortlessly leads into the final climax. As “ To Drift – To Stay ” emerges, pølaroit and Abbott find their perfect symbiosis. Layers of piano grains, tape textures, and melancholic strings intertwine, creating a deeply immersive conclusion that resonates long after the final note fades.

Shaped by the vast coastal landscapes of Northern Germany, pølaroit's music carries the essence of moody shorelines and shifting horizons—where mist, wind, and distant tides become sonic textures. Jonas, growing up by the North Sea, and Marius, whose rhythmic foundation stems from percussion and electronic production, have spent years refining a sound that feels both intimate and expansive. Their previous releases with Deutsche Grammophon , Stil vor Talent, and Ki Records , as well as collaborations with Cercle —including the visually stunning live session of “Backwaters” in India—have brought their music to a global audience. With projects spanning from their work with the techno marching band MEUTE to the growing influence of their own label, NORR , pølaroit keeps exploring new creative paths with every release.

To accompany the release, pølaroit has recorded a special live session at a stunning castle, visually capturing the fusion between classical instrumentation and electronic storytelling. The journey continues in Denmark, where they will present an extended live set surrounded by dunes—an immersive experience that unfolds from sunset to sunrise, telling a story beyond just music.
